Wow,
what a Trek. As Team Captain, I would like to thank the 52 team members who made our team such a complete success. With your
help, we were the NUMBER ONE TEAM FOR FUNDRAISING! Congratulations to you for your efforts and your strong and resolute commitment
to this cause and the team.
If you see Loan Rangers today, PLEASE thank them and give them a big hug or pat on the back. Each Loan Ranger was tested to the max with the elements and their own resilience. Each of them is amazing and (I believe) achieved their personal goals associated with this event.
I would also like to thank our team of Range Rovers, who literally took the sting out of the challenges we endured along the way. They kept us hydrated, pumped, greased, safe, fed, supported, energized and comforted. Led by Mark and Mary, this team provided an unprecedented and very much appreciated crutch that many of us needed along the way. They are: Susan Albert, Sarah Brown, Debbie Cunningham, Donna French, Mary Hammond, Colette Hart, Mark Johnston, Whitney Moreau, Danielle Moszczenski, Nick Patenaude and Kelly Rogers.
This Trek was unlike any other I've been involved with over the past six years. Friday's weather was torrential and bone chilling. Saturday was a great day, with just enough mist to occasionally freshen our faces and enough cloud cover to keep us cool. Sunday was more of the same, with the unfortunate addition of 25 mile an hour winds pushing us constantly AWAY from our goal.
However, we endured and as I sit here writing this, I am overcome with pride at what we did this past weekend. It has been an incredible honor and privilege to lead this team and it is a wonderful end to a great run as a team.
Some are wondering if we will do this again next year, and our general feeling is that we need to take some time off. The great news is that we are leaving at the top of our game, with a number one team, an A-class support group and an intense feeling of accomplishment.
Thank you to every employee who rode, volunteered, pledged, cheered or otherwise supported a Loan Ranger over the course of the past several months. For those of you who have not yet had an opportunity to support the team, take a moment this week to call one of the team members to tell them how proud you are of them. Their accomplishment is nothing short of extraordinary.
